IT IS NOT! Organ donation saves so many lives every day. Although sometimes some people have to lose a life to save a life, it’s better that losing two lives. The wait for the families is tough. They don’t know if their family member who is in dire need of an organ is going to make it to the next day. The patients suffer each and every single day not only being in pain and exhausted from not having organs working correctly and carrying out the function they are suppose to, but just trying to keep a positive attitude hoping they will get the call to get an organ soon. Patients also attend doctors appointments, blood tests, fluid drains, dialysis, and several other different types of hospital visits/stays. The entire process is so tiring for the patient and the family. It’s also a financial strain on the family. They have to pay for not only medical bills, but hotel stays, food, parking at the hospital, and so many other things.

There is one thing that YOU as an individual could do to make it easier on the families and patients; become an organ donor. A quote from unos.org states this;
“Every ten minutes, someone is added to the national transplant waiting list. On average, 20 people die each day while waiting for a transplant. One organ donor can save eight lives. Sign up to be an organ donor.”

Becoming an organ donor for me was one of the easiest decisions I've ever made. It is such an important thing. Knowing than one day, I could save up to eight lives is amazing. It would be such an honor. The organs could go to a young child who had their whole life ahead of them or to a young woman's father who is trying to live to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

Only 45% of people in the US are organ donors. Each day, about 80 people receive organs. Just think of all of the lives you could change by checking yes or no on the organ donation slot.

If you're still iffy about it, think about it like this; what if you were the one in need of a new organ. You would hope and pray every day you would get one. These people are in dire need. Some die because they wait so long, others receive their organ(s) and go on to live a happy healthy life.

Please become an organ donor. It will be the best decision you've ever made.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
