If you haven’t watched "One Tree Hill," then I’m judging you right now. "One Tree Hill" debuted in 2003 and ran until 2012, so from the time I was seven to 16. Obviously I didn’t watch the series from beginning to end; I watched reruns in middle school and have since watched the show twice on Netflix. I think it says a lot that a show can still relate with a viewer and pull them in years after the show aired. It’s been 13 years since the show debuted, and four since its last episode, yet I believe it to still be one of the best shows out there. If you have watched, then I’m sure you’ll agree on my reasoning as to why it’s such a great show, and if you haven’t seen it yet, then hopefully you’ll be inspired to.
- It’s an entertaining show. A small town filled with gorgeous people practically screams drama. This show sucks you in with its lovable characters and doesn’t let you go. You came for the drama, but you stayed because you love it.
- It made you
believe in love, whether you were a Nathan and Haley lover or Lucas and
Peyton shipper. After everything the couples go
through and overcome, you can’t help but believe in true love.
- You can relate. Whether it’s the artsy and troubled Peyton Sawyer, pretty but misunderstood Brooke Davis, or the bubbly but shy Haley Scott, the show has a character you can more than likely identify with and feel for.
- It’s a show you can get your boyfriend into, mainly because of the basketball. Boys love basketball -- it’s a fact -- so when you get a show that’s practically centered around the game, it’s not that hard to get your boyfriend on the "Tree Hill", bandwagon. He comes for the basketball but ends up staying for the drama too.
- It teaches you about friendship. If Brooke and Peyton could get over loving the same guy and fighting over him, you can get over your roommate or bestie borrowing your favorite sweater and returning it with a fresh stain.
- It has a great soundtrack. "One Tree Hill" came out when ITunes and Spotify weren’t around, so when the show was airing, a lot of up-and-coming artists were featured on the show.
- It showcased real issues, such as the time when Brooke talks about all the doubts one may play over in their head. Or the episode where Peyton is drugged at a college party and is almost raped. The show wasn’t afraid to talk about issues that are important and matter.
- It brought you Brooke Davis. I don’t think there’s any way one can’t love Brooke Davis. She is fierce and strong a fighter, while still being fun and quirky. Brooke is hands-down one of the best things to have come from "One Tree Hill."
