Over these past few months, I've had the opportunity to become friends with some amazing people that I cannot picture my life without. And while these new friends are great, I can't help but ask myself how well do I really know them?

They could be the best people I've ever met but I have yet to spend enough time to fully get to know them. A good friendship is built on shared experiences. That first time you had lunch in the dining hall. The first football game you attended together. The class you both spent countless hours studying for. As weeks and months go by you learn to have this new person in your life.

Trust is earned, it takes time to establish a friendship that's real. Someone that will drop anything for you. Someone you share an endless amount of embarrassing memories with and will constantly remind you of them. Someone that is completely honest with you when you need it the most. Someone that understands you when it seems like no one else does. Someone who knows you better than you might know yourself.

Hopefully one day these new friends will become old friends. We'll be able to laugh about the moments we shared together, and stand by each other not only when times are good but when times become difficult. If I'm fortunate enough to keep at least one friendship like this I'd say life is pretty great.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
