*SPOILER ALERT* for those who haven't watched the whole series.
Yeah, they're hot (mainly). Yeah, they're doctors (huge plus). But each of the male characters in Grey's have their own personality quirks that make us fall in love with them. The names McDreamy and McSteamy don't exist for nothing.
1. Dr. Derek Shepherd (and/or McDreamy)
Easily the biggest heartthrob since the start of the show. Yeah, he's made us mad at times (leaving Mere for Addison for that short little time), but he always comes back and saves the day, or literally saves someone's life. Remember that time he dove in the water after Meredith tried to drown herself? Yeah. He's a real hero. And, his heart breaks when he can't help a patient. Like the time he went off the deep end because he wasn't able to save a patient. He's been chief. He's had his face plastered all over the hospital (yet he's so humble and hated it). He's done it all. Not to mention the fact that he had a "bad boy" stage and Meredith had to pick him up from jail daily for speeding. He pretty much embodies the perfect man. This brain surgeon has it all. "It's a beautiful day to save lives," am I right?
2. Dr. Alex Karev
He comes off as this heartless jerk, and I hated him at the beginning, but deep down this guy has a heart of gold. He loves working with the babies and children in the hospital, and always knows how to talk a teenage girl into being brave for her upcoming surgery. He's the type who will fall in love with a girl, but be afraid to say anything until it's too late. When he married Izzie when she had cancer, he turned into every girl's dream man. He was so good to her, but when that ended, he went back to his "old ways." But, he's always going to be overly caring about some girl, without admitting it, he tries to hold the bad boy act.
3. Dr. Mark Sloan (and/or McSteamy)
Honestly, I thought he was one of the biggest douchebags when he first appeared on the show. How could we like him? HE was the best friend who slept with Dr. Shepherd's ex-wife. But, he came to the show, proved to be an excellent plastic surgeon, and fell deeply in love with Lexie Grey, all while mending his relationship with Dr. Shepherd. The most heartbreaking part of this show is when Lexie dies in the plane crash right after Mark confesses his love to her. Although he passed away soon after, we'll always remember he and McDreamy as the best duo of that hospital.
4. Dr. Jackson Avery
He's always obviously been real easy on the eyes. But he has the personality, too. He fell in love with April and wanted to start a family with her in the thoughts she may be pregnant, and our hearts broke with him when she gasped in relief to learn she wasn't pregnant. Due to his mother's help with the Harper Avery Foundation, Dr. Avery becomes the new chairmen, ultimately meaning he is running the hospital. Honestly, he was kind of frustrating to the other doctors, but he finally pulled it together and made our hearts happy when he thoughtfully chose to rename the hospital, "Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital."
5. Dr. Owen Hunt
Honestly, I was totally unsure about him at first, but he definitely has the whole tough guy thing down. He's intimidating. He calms down "Gasoline" during the motorcycle accident situation, and he can somehow always (or most of the time) handle Cristina and her escapades (although, he did cheat on her, which we are all finally over). He's a great friend to Teddy. He felt awful and blamed himself for the plane crash. And honestly, the guy just seems to deal with a lot on the show. According to Pinterest, Dr. Hunt is the "hottest ginger alive."
6. Dr. Richard Webber
By far, the best memory of "Chief" is whenever he shows up in a limo to pick up Dr. Bailey for her wedding. It was adorable. This guy is the father of the show. He's there for anyone and everyone. He gives Dr. Shepherd advice always. He really is Meredith's father pretty much. And he is the best friend to Dr. Bailey. The show would completely fall apart without him. Dr. Webber is the bomb, even through his hardships.
7. Dr. Preston Burke
It's easy to remember Dr. Burke as the guy who would have random dance parties in the kitchen with Cristina Yang. This doctor is SMART, too. We all felt so sorry for him when he was shot and lost a lot of control of his right-hand (important for surgery), causing Dr. Yang to sneak a lot of his surgeries. The most heartbreaking situation with Dr. Burke was when he was left at the alter, and I was sad to see him go so early in the series, with only a short return.
8. Dr. George O'Malley
The ultimate friend-zone whom we all adore, Dr. O'Malley was by far the sweetest man of the whole show. Poor guy was so in love with Meredith, and it was upsetting when she broke his heart. He went through many phases, and it seems as if most of the show he was just trying to find himself. However, for being friend-zoned, George definitely got the girls. From eloping with Callie, to having Izzie fall completely in love with him, George was a pretty lucky guy. One of the saddest moments of Grey's was finding out that George was the "John Doe" brought in after a horrible bus accident.
So, why can't we date fictional television characters again?
