Why November Is The Perfect Month

11th In The Year, But 1st In My Heart.

Why November Is The Perfect Month

Like usual, this semester has flown by, and it is already November. Can you believe it? I can't either. Luckily, it's one of my favorite months out of the year. Here are seven of the many reasons November holds a special place in my heart.

The weather is perfect.

Almost every single day in November is sweater weather. It's not so cold that I have to bust out the puffy jackets and Uggs, but it's just chilly enough to sport my favorite new slouchy sweaters and riding boots. What could be better?

It's still football season.

In fact, it is the best part of football season. The weather has cooled down enough to make tailgating actually bearable. This is when things start to actually get exciting, especially if your team is doing well so far in their season.

The food is on point.

Pumpkin spice everything is officially totally acceptable along with apple cider, pecan pie, pumpkin pie and all foods Thanksgiving related.

Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday. It's an entire day to be thankful for all of the blessings in our lives. And we get to do so at home, with our family and friends. The food is delicious, the football games never disappoint, and the post-dinner-turkey-coma is so real.

School Purgatory.

November is a beautiful time for students everywhere. The worry of mid-term exams is in the past, and the looming stress of finals hasn't crept onto the horizon quite yet. Plus, there is Thanksgiving break, which is a much needed breather from the day-to-day college grind.

Black Friday.

The biggest sales of the year happen in November. It's the best time to get your Christmas shopping done, stock up on winter must-haves, and be shocked by all the infamous news stories that are sure to ensue.

Christmas Is just around the corner.

Christmas music is already on the radio, Christmas decorations are already out at every home store, my mom has already asked me what I want for Christmas, and Christmas flavored drinks are already available at Starbucks. Tis' the season, y'all.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
