10 Ways My Sorority RUINED My Life

In This Article:

Why would anyone want to join a sorority? Here are ten reasons why you should never consider joining one.

My big sister is too inspiring.

My big sister and I get along so well and it's almost like she is TOO MUCH of a role model. Ugh.

Bid day.

Dancing with sisters, meeting new members, music, food, and fun are integral parts of bid day. So is glitter. Glitter is everywhere, forever.

Living in the house.

Living in a house with 42 women?! Who would POSSIBLY want to live with so many of their best friends?

Forcing me out of my comfort zone.

Damn this group of empowered women for encouraging growth at the expense of my comfort.

Preparation for the future.

Sororities look terrible on resumes! Holding a leadership position, commitment, teamwork, and networking is basically impossible in such a large group.

Becoming well-rounded.

Intramural sports, study groups, bible studies, and community service events that we do contribute nothing to my attributes as a person.

Friendship.

There are way too many events that encourage friendship and sisterhood.

Having a support system.

Whether I'm frustrated about a test or having more serious problems, there is always a sister willing to talk to me and help me figure things out. They are WAY too helpful.

Exponential resources.

Whether it be food, printing, study rooms, counseling sessions, or anything at all, my sisters are willing to provide for me. Way too many resources to choose from.

Lifelong connections.

Membership in my organization is for a lifetime, why would I want all of the aforementioned for LIFE?

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
