“New Year, New Me”
How many years has it been since that simple yet contradicting phrase has been used? Every year we are challenged to create a “resolution” for the new year. So, basically, everything that we did or didn’t do the last year, we want to do. Personally, I have always found it super difficult to stick with something like studying for every single test, sticking to a reading plan, or even something simple like keeping your room clean (which is difficult for some of us!!). However, I don’t think that that phrase has to be a bad thing.
As college students, we run into new people all the time. We are constantly changing, too. Some people don’t find themselves in high school as much as they do in college. Are New Year’s resolutions a bad thing? If you are dedicated enough to making your resolution a reality, then you can make your resolution something good. Ask yourself what you want to do to make yourself better and go with it. If you want to make straight A’s, then do it. If you want to write that novel you have been trying to write for years, go write it. If you want to read 100 books, then go do it! You are only limited to doing what you want to do. Eliminate what is stopping you. If you think you are too busy to study, then make time. You will make time for what is important to you, even if you don’t specifically choose it.
What is my New Year’s Resolution this year, you ask? Good question.
I want to write that novel that I have been working on.
I want to read as many books as I can this year. Writing is reading as much as it is rewriting.
I want to read the whole Bible.
I want to complete as many things as possible on my bucket list.
I want to save up the money to visit my brother in Hawaii.
That’s about all I have for this week! Have a great week and an awesome New Year! Happy 2017!
