If you're from New England (you know, that place with the awesome sports teams, beautiful foliage, and lots of dunkin donuts?) you know that the women that come from there are definitely the most amazing girls anyone can find. Why aren't we appreciated as much as west coast girls though? There are an abundance of songs that talk about Califorina girls, but where is all the love for the east coast women? Here is the solid proof that New England girls are definitely the best of the best.

1. We're passionate about everything.

Red Sox win? AWESOME! Patriots win? FANTASTIC! The route you took to work had no construction going on? PRAISE JESUS TODAY IS A GOOD DAY!

2. We aren't afraid to get down and dirty.

You think only the "tomboy" girls are willing to throw down? Think again. We can definitely stand up for ourselves, and gives the boys a run for their money (and look better doing it too).

3. Coffee dates are always an option.

Here in New England, coffee is a religion. It's pretty hard to find a girl that doesn't like caffeine, and with over 900 Dunkin' Donuts locations, you'll never run out of new places to visit!

4. New England is home to some of the smartest women in the US.

With an abundance of colleges and universities to choose from, (four being Ivy League schools), it's no secret we take our education seriously. Plus, with all this knowledge, we'll totally rock trivia night!

5. We have a masters in patience.

We waited 84 years for a curse to break. We waited 16 years for a damn highway to be finished. Don't even get us started on waiting for the T, HOURS will pass by before that thing arrives. We wait all summer for football, we wait all winter for the snow to melt so we can thaw out. We'll even wait in a 20 person line just for coffee. So yeah, we won't freak out if everything doesn't go perfectly on the first try.

6. The weather doesn't scare us.

Ask anyone who lived through the winter of 2015. Boston alone saw over 108 inches in just 4 months. 108 inches. We were drowning in snow, but we managed. We also deal with thunderstorms, hailstorms, hurricane force winds, flooding, 100+ degree heatwaves....and that's just on a normal Tuesday. We see you mother nature, but you can't break us that easily.

7. We aren't afraid to show our goofy side.

Whether it's pulling pranks on each other, dancing during the 7th inning stretch, or just jamming out at a red light, we'll never shy away from having fun!

8. The accents.

This isn't just the standard Boston accent we're talking about. Each state has it's own, no matter how much we may deny it. It's just in our nature, and you'd be lying if you said you didn't find it a little bit sexy.

9. We can teach you an entirely new vocabulary.

If you give us weird looks whenever we try to explain something, chances are it's not just because of the accent. Have you ever heard of a bubbler? (hint, you drink water from it!) How about a frappe? You'll constantly be learning something new with one of us around!

10. We're always up for an adventure.

From the ocean to the mountains, we're always looking for something new to explore. We will cliff dive with you and then suggest a hike up the White Mountains (which are perfect for skiing too!). The beauty of living in New England is that there are so many activities and attractions so boredom will never be an issue.

11. We're just all around bad ass.

We'll let you figure this one out for yourself.

Who wouldn't want a fun, loving, smart, and passionate New England girl by their side? You can count on us because we'll never give up on you. We will be your number one fan, your teacher, your support system, and your best friend.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
