Why I Need To Live In Paris

Forever a French girl at heart.

Why I Need To Live In Paris
myself

Ever since my first time in Paris, I’ve thought about it every day and how badly I want to go back. The fashion, the food, the cafes, the architecture. Everything is perfect.

Although I would be broker than broke if I lived in Paris, I want to live there or at least go back as many times as I possibly can. I want to sit outside of a cafe in a pea coat and beret and people watch while I drink coffee all day and not worry about anything. I want to wake up and go for a run in the Luxembourg gardens and then shop my day away.

I love Paris and all of its wonders so much I plan to live there for a year my junior year and hopefully one day I will have the means to live there in a quaint apartment over my favorite cafe.

This article could be a never ending list of I wants, but instead, I’ll just tell you about all the reasons why Paris is a perfect place.

1. The food

The food is totally one of the main reasons people are so attracted to Paris. Trying every french onion soup you come across at every restaurant you go to or different ham and cheese omelets every morning could be the highlight of anyone’s day. If you aren't a foodie and you go to Paris, you will become one. No one can resist the bread and cheese put in front of them everywhere they go.

2. The shopping

I didn’t even love fashion or going shopping until I went to Paris. Paris is the reason why I decided I wanted to work in the fashion industry when I grew up. Even if you don’t buy anything, shopping along the famous Champs Elysées makes you feel majorly glamorous as you walk next to the chicest shoppers there. Or when you go to the Marais on a Sunday because it’s the only area open that day, it makes you feel incredibly special. Even if you hate shopping, shopping in Paris is a totally different ballpark.

3. The architecture

Paris takes you back to the time you would’ve rather lived in, a time before cell phones and photos and social media, a time when all you had to look at were your surroundings. When you walk through the streets, the old buildings create a light on the street that make you realize you are walking through history and so much as happened through these streets, and the buildings have been there to see it all.

4. The sights

The Eiffel Tower is a really magical place. I have had the amazing opportunity to have dinner on the top on Christmas Eve and there was nothing like it. Even if you're just admiring it from your hotel balcony, it's amazing. And you cannot forget about the Arc de Triomphe or any of the popular sights throughout the city. Even the long shopping streets and the rivers and the museums are sights and they are gorgeous.

5. The cafes

One of the best things about Paris is the endless amounts of cafes you see on every street you turn down. Everyday I wish I was in Paris sitting in a cafe enjoying a coffee and a pastry. The cafes are the most calm and comfortable places in Paris and I could spend endless amounts of days sitting in one and never get bored.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
