Feminism, according to an online dictionary, means, "thedoctrineadvocatingsocial, political, andallotherrightsofwomen equaltothoseofmen." While I don't agree with the way some show it or go about fighting to have equal rights, the core of the message appeals to me and thousands of other people.
Because I need feminism.
I need feminism because I do nOt want the phrase "you throw like a girl" to be an insult. I need feminism because I want little girls to be raised knowing that they can do anything they want to; I want them to let their imaginations run wild.
I need it because I want to be able to walk to my car without getting worried about someone jumping out from the shadows. I do n'ot want that for anyone, male or female.
Because without feminism, people don't get the same amount of pay for the same amount of work.
Because girls can game, and boys can dance.
Because feminism is not just for women, it is for everyone.
It is so exciting to me that there are so many men and women that want to stand hand in hand, as equal individuals, beautifully different but all respected.
I do not need feminism to remind me of my value.
I need feminism because I know I have value, as done everyone else.
