1. The pay.
The whole reason for getting a job is to make money. Very few college or summer jobs pay as well as nannying. Depending on how many kids you're responsible for, you'll make anywhere from $10-$15 dollars an hour. As a nanny, you will most likely make more money in one week than you will in a whole month of working a minimum wage job.
2. No taxes.
One of the greatest perks of nannying is the fact that you don't have to pay taxes. Nothing is more discouraging than calculating your paycheck and then realizing a good chunk of it will be taken out for taxes.
3. It's fun.
Nannying is one of the most enjoyable jobs you can have. Not only do you get to make friends with the kids you're watching, but you also get to take them on all sorts of fun adventures. Trips to amusement parks, the movie theater, and the pool are all paid for by the parents. All you have to do is join in and have fun. Whether you spend your summer watching TV on the couch with the kids or out and about is up to you, but kids love to play and parents want them to stay active – the opportunities for exciting activities are endless.
4. It's easy.
Nannying is also easy. It's like having a little row of ducks following you around wherever you lead them. Need to run a few errands? Want to relax at the pool? Simply take the kids with you. Another great part of the job is that you don't have to compromise your plans.
5. You have weekends and nights free.
One of the worst parts about having a job in general is missing out and having it consume too much of your time. As a nanny, you can take weekend trips to the beach and still go out to dinner and hangout with friends after work. The hours are ideal and all your friends will be jealous of how much money you're making with still so much free time.
6. The experience.
Aside from all the materialistic, selfish perks of the nannying job, it is also a great learning experience. You learn how to relate to kids and find your inner child as well. No matter how crazy and annoying they may be at times, you'll start to love them. Kids are always teaching us new things; from patience to appreciating the little things. Nannying is a great way to gain life experience, all while overcoming the broke college student stigma.
