Why My Sister is My Best Friend

There is only one relationship that I know of where you can go from screaming your head off to laughing till you cry in about half a second. That relationship would be the one I have with my sister. No one knows how to get under my skin faster than that girl. But no one knows how to make me smile harder, either. We've grown up together. Through all the girl drama, heartbreaks, and parenting issues we had each others backs. Nothing is better than having a sister; you're born with a best friend.

I personally hate losing, but if there is one person I would rather die than lose to, it's my sister. Growing up I have always been competitive, it's in my blood. But there is a whole other level of craziness when I play against my family. Whether it is board games, sport competitions, or who can throw something the furthest, I would rather jump into a tank of sharks than lose to her. Because it's not just a win or lose situation, it's about all the bragging rights. It's all about that superior sister status which we strive so hard to obtain.

But if there is one person I know I can always count on, it's her. When the world is crumbling down on my shoulders, I know she is always there to lift me up. There have been times where I've come into her room and laid on her bed and the first thing she says to me is, "Who do I need to go after?" She knows what to say to me to bring me back. She knows how to make me smile even when I don't want to. And best of all, she knows how to calm me down when I'm about to explode.

Having a sister means you have someone to experience life with. They understand how your parents get when you forget to empty the dishwasher. Or when your mom is yelling at you with a not so valid argument. Or when your dad decides to have another "boy talk." She is the one person you call when you are in an awkward situation and need to look like you're busy. I know I can always use her as an excuse when I don't want to leave the couch.

My mom would always tell us, friends come and go, but family is forever. If there is one person in this world who I am overprotective of, it's my sister. There is an unspoken bond between you two. You can communicate with a look, and be on the same page. And although there have been times when you could strangle her, you know you couldn't live without her.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
