She's the person I wake up to every morning, and the person I go to bed with every night. She's better than a boyfriend, she's my roommate. She's the one who's down for constant dance parties and multiple orders of cheesy bread. She's better than anyone, she's my roommate.
The search for the perfect roommate all started about 6 months before I was about to endure on my first year of college. Freshman year is about constant change, and one of those changes is learning how to live with someone else. I wasn't too concerned about the situation, but I knew I needed someone who accepted my extreme OCD, my constant obnoxious laughter, and my love for naps, Netflix, and food. Living with someone is never easy, but if you can find someone who loves The Bachelor just as much as you and who can listen to you complain about the many heartaches you experience at college, you have found just the right person.
A great roommate is about...
1. Having a shoulder to cry on.
2. Sending embarrassing selfies to.
3. Someone to be there when you lose your key.
4. Encouraging you to go to the gym.
5. Always being down to order some late night Chinese food.
6. Finish each other's . . . sandwiches.
7. Sharing the same love for mid-homework dance parties.
8. Picking you up when you fall, sometimes literally..
9. Getting the best advice.
10. Knowing that you're lucky enough to live with a best friend.
Plain and simple: your roommate could possibly be the G.O.A.T. too if she encompasses all these traits. Of course all roommate situations are unique, but it's important to find someone who you get along with. It may not be everyone's goal to be lifelong friend with your freshman roommate, but having a person who can be there to pick you back up when you fall with a laugh and a piece of pizza is one of the greatest things to ask for.
