Dear Planner,

I just want to thank you for all that you have done for me. You have kept me organized and I would not be where I am today without you. I am grateful for you and will forever be endowed to you.

Sincerely,

A planner junkie

Everything started in junior high. We were all handed planners and told to keep track of any homework we had due, projects coming up, quizzes or tests. We were told that this 'notebook with a calendar in it' would be the saving grace for the rest of our lives (little did I know that would be true). I started out simple with just writing in homework so I knew what I needed to take home and what I could leave at school. Then it turned in to planning out when I could hangout with friends, and when family vacations were. Luckily my mom has her own business so her organization skills in teaching me came in handy when I got to fancier planners.

In all fairness, I would be lost without my planner. It provides me with everything I need to succeed in school and in life. There is enough space to write out homework for all of my classes as well as any material I need to study. Depending on the type of planner you have, some may even be broken down by hours in the day. My current one is a week-by-week planner with all seven days on the two middle pages. This helps me keep track of my whole upcoming week to be prepared and ahead of what all needs to be done.

I am a part of different clubs, have multiple friends, and a school schedule I need to keep track of. I do not put my life on a computer. As someone who needs to have everything on paper, I would probably forget to eat or go workout if I did not have my planner. Being a person who is busy, this planner has probably saved my life a time or two.

People probably look at me and think 'this girl is crazy.' My planner is a little excessive but it is what works for me. All of the colors and stickers help keep me motivated during the week as I can cross things off and know I am on track with what I need to accomplish. To sit down at the end of the week and organize the following week is a stress reliever. I know I am on top of my game and that the following week will be a success.

To everyone who does not use a planner, you need to start. This will be a life changer and you will be so grateful that you bought one. Run down to Target or your local dollar store and pick up one. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Grab a couple sticky notes and some binder clips to assist you in being organized.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
