Why My Mom Is My Inspirtation

Appreciation For A Thankless Job As An Inspirational Mom

Why My Mom Is My Inspirtation
Ashley Allen

My mom has always inspired me. I look up to her and hope that someday I will be as amazing as she is. I want to be like her, obviously I don't mean exactly like her because then I wouldn't be me. I don't want to look just like her or have the same job or anything like that, what I want is to be the person she is inside.

My mom is amazing in so many ways and I'm sorry I don't tell her more or appreciate her as much as I should. As I look back I think of how much of a pain and a brat I was to her at times and how she never gave up on me. She loves me even though I rarely made it easy.

My mom inspires me because she raised four kids pretty much on her own and three of which happened to be girls-- and sisters are a handful, especially in the teen years. She never gave up. She worked multiple jobs just to keep food on the table and a roof over our head. She never misses work unless she is super sick or when I had to have surgery. She has a lot of health problems and is always in pain but she doesn't let it stop her.

She is also my inspiration because she is always there for people even if they aren't always there for her. Also, even when she is busy if you need her she makes time. My mom called me the other day, even though she was occupied at home, just to see if I was okay and to talk to me because I told her I had an awful nightmare that I woke up crying from and was terrified to ever sleep again.

Sometimes when I'm watching a movie or reading old texts I remember how lucky I am to have her in my life. My mom is the best mom anyone could ask for and sometimes she does things that make me so happy that I cry. When I was a sophomore in high school because of my schedule I did not have the same lunch period as any of my friends and some people were mean-- when I tired to sit with them they all switched tables, so I sat alone and cried. I cried most days at lunch because of how alone I felt. I told my mom about everything. One day she told me she was taking me to lunch and picked me up from school-- it was a day I will never forget. Every time I think about it I cry because it meant the world to me because not only did she surprise me but for one day I didn't spend lunch alone and I felt special.

My mom is an inspiration not only as a mom but as a person, she always puts others before herself. What inspires me most about her as a mom though, is that she never took the easy way out. She always remembered that being a parent means doing what's right for your child even if it means they don't like you for it. She knew it was more important to be a child's parent than it was to be their friend. My mom showed me that it's not always easy being a parent especially with a kid like me, but she also showed me the kind of parent I want to be when I grow up. Thank you for never giving up on me, mom, even though I was a handful and like our mother daughter book, I Love You So by Marianne Richmond said, "I love you." "How much?" "So much!" How much is So?" "Way, way more than you know."

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
