She is my rock, my shoulder to cry on, my best friend.

Why My Granny Is My Best Friend

I feel so extremely lucky to have grown up living with or next door to my grandmother. There is no relationship quite like ours and it is one of the most special ones I have. Although I could sit here all day and list reasons as to why she is so incredible, here are the top 10.

1. She can make me laugh on my worst days.

Granny is the funniest person I know. She can make just about anyone laugh and the best part is she doesn't even realize how truly funny she is.

2. She is always ready for a game night.

No matter the time of day, Granny is always ready to play a mad game of Scattegories or Clue. Ever since I was little, board games were always included in our Friday nights and still to this day they never get old.

3. She is my go to shopping buddy.

Retail therapy is real and what better person to go shopping with than Granny?

4. She is the strongest woman I know.

I am in awe of her. From the struggles and obstacles she faced through life, she never gave up. She may not realize how inspirational and special she is, but she is the strongest woman I know.

5. I can tell her anything and everything.

I know I sometimes may talk her head off, but I know she's listening and I know she cares. She is my go to for everything, she always knows what to say.

6. She is just as weird as me.

Whether we are making weird faces, doing crazy dance moves, or watching strange movies, I am glad the person I have to do all this with is her.

7. She is my role model.

Her constant positivity and ability to make everyone smile is something I am always inspired by. She has taught me some of the most valuable life lessons and continues to teach me every day.

8. She gives great advice.

Whatever situation I am in, whatever conflict I face, she always knows what to do. In times of stress and worry, I know I can count on her for help.

9. She is always ready for some car jams.

Whether we are throwing it back to some Rick Astley and Whitney Houston, or some Drake and Ellie Goulding, she is always ready to sing (or whistle/hum LOUDLY) to any tune.

and lastly,

10. She loves me no matter what.

and I love her too :)

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
