While attending college, I noticed I was not feeling my best and luckily for me, I had friends who guided me in the right direction. Going to Wilson College, I am more and more grateful to have my friends and all the help I get from staff, Faculty, Professors, students, and more! But something was missing: as I soon realized I wasn't as happy or enthusiastic because my best friend and companion was out of my life for so long and we are nearly inseparable. I met friends who had therapy dogs and cats on campus, and even reptiles! Wilson College may be a unique place to be with many farm animals and pocket pets, but now we have swarms of therapy animals and emotional support animals. For me, my American Eskimo/Spitz dog Nala is so much more than just a pet. She helps me overcome my daily struggles.

1. She brings me bursts of joy and immense laughter when I least expect it (which really helps in turn reduce my anxiety and randomly triggered sadness/overwhelming emotions)

2. We work together like clockwork; we're a team - that's "we"

3. She reads my every thought, move, and more (and yes, even as I'm drifting off into slumber)

This helps me to realize she truly does care about my wellbeing, as I care in turn about hers. What a great emotional support animal I couldn't have asked for better!

4. She helps me to get over my social anxiety, my fears, my negative feelings, and any other ailments I may be facing. She allows for me to be my best self (that I possibly can be!)

5. She makes me so happy even without medicine, I swear I could almost die from happiness, sometimes. (seriously, all jokes aside)

6. She is my solace and my kindred spirit and she is one of a kind like a snowflake. Irreplaceable.

7. She's a blessing every day when it comes to my sanity as I know I am for her in return.

8. Men have abused us both. My dog taught me that people can be cruel especially with the reality of abusive situations such as puppy mills being so widespread (where she was saved from one by the rescue group we adopted her from) and toxic. I rescued her and she rescued me in return.

9. She inspires most of my writing and art pieces. She boosts my creativity levels and energy levels, and all things good and wholesome!

10. She makes an excellent role model, really!

11. Again, she is one of a kind. An ethereal white flower, like a rose with thorns, soft yet strong.

Bonus (12): She helps regulate my mood.

In the end, nothing can compare to her!

She makes a great pet as well as a therapy/Emotional Support Animal - anytime, anywhere, any day!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
