Why My Boyfriend Is My Best Friend
Casey Schieda

Everybody needs a best friend in life. Whether it's your dog, your siblings, whoever, we all need that one person to go to for everything in life. Fortunately, I have two best friends in my life: Alexandria, and my boyfriend.

We started dating our junior year of high school when he asked me to prom. I can trust him with anything and everything, and I am grateful to have him in my life for so many reasons. These are the most important.

1. He listens to me complain all day, every day.

Whether I had a bad day, am angry with someone, or just want to complain for the sake of complaining, he listens to me and does not pass judgment.

2. We share a love of food.

I love food. I love trying new foods and being adventurous. Luckily, he does too. We can both indulge in food and love every minute of it.

3. We can sit in silence and feel perfectly normal.

In the car, we can just turn on the radio, or not, and be content and comfortable with each other. Just being with each other is enough for us.

4. He is always there as a shoulder to cry on.

Whether I am upset about something serious, or it's 1 a.m. on a Tuesday and I just need to hear his voice, I can always call him and he will make me feel a million times better.

5. He knows me better than anyone else.

My boyfriend honestly understands me like no one else can. He knows what I am thinking and feeling before I even know.

6. He treats me better than I could ever imagine.

If I really want Chipotle for dinner, he will sacrifice what he wants and go to Chipotle. Or he will randomly bring Chips Ahoy and Reese's to my doorstep to make me smile.

7. Everything he does makes me laugh.

Blasting music in the car on the way to the beach and singing at the top of his lungs or making fun of me, I laugh at almost everything he does, and I love it.

8. Even though we are miles apart at school, he never fails to make me feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be dating him.

Good morning, good night texts or phone calls are the best part of my day because I know that no matter what, he will always be there for me.

Two proms, two summers and two semesters of college later, he is still my best friend and boyfriend, and I wouldn't trade that for the world.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
