Why Music Is Such An Important Part Of My Day.

When I'm not listening to music, I'm still thinking about it.

Why Music Is Such An Important Part Of My Day.

Think back on a really bad time in your life.

Now, think back to a really peaceful time in your life.

Most everyone can think of a song that automatically ties them back to whatever moment in time they think about. This summer the Twitter world was filled with "Summer 2016 was the best" or "Everyone was at peace summer 2016." In Summer 2016, our ears were filled with songs like One Dance by Drake, Formation by Beyonce, Pick up the Phone by Travis Scott and Needed Me by Rihanna. (Yes, it's been that long since our girl Rih Rih dropped music.)

It may not be the moments we automatically think about at random but instead, we hear a song and our brains go "You remember...".

This is because music plays such an important part of people's lives, especially mine. Music is an escape from life in a way wherein just a few minutes you aren't focused on whatever is happening but instead, you are deep in thought to the words that flow from your speaker.

I listen to music every day of my life. Like most of us, we don't even think about how music is a part of our everyday routine. We get in the car, music comes through the radio, we watch our favorite show and music is playing in the background of a scene.

Music calms me but then makes me think of the troubles people go through in their lives. Artists put their entire souls into music and I escape by listening to their words.

Songs like Love Yourz by J. Cole reminds someone to always remember to be grateful for what they have. Into You by Fabolous and Tamia make you think of that special person in your life. Trust by Brent Faiyaz reminds you of that person that broke your trust when you needed them the most.

Music is something I utilize every day, I conquer each day with the help of music keeping me sane.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
