In this century, the world consistently revolves around money to the point where individuals have become obsessed with having wealth.Money is a great tool in order to receive your wants and needs; however, individuals can easily get carried away with spending and prioritize their wants over their needs. Material items can provide an individual with some temporary happiness and fulfillment; although, it’s impossible to purchase positive and genuine relationships with others. It is apparent that one can build friendships and relationships based on money, but that will only attract the wrong kind of people. Those “friends” will use those for their money, fame, and fortune. Furthermore, those that are lucky with their money may be able to buy everything they want, but they also may be the loneliest people.
Although money can buy an individual anything they want, it’s just collecting more and more of the same material items. Those items give individuals satisfaction and self-confidence until they get tired of them, leading to further purchases. Money does allow individuals to buy items that they truly need in order to live life peacefully; however, most of it is spent on items they really want. When those wants are fulfilled, individuals will find other wants to invest in and it is a constant cycle.
Money cannot buy everlasting experiences with genuine people. Of course, an individual can pay for a vacation and create memories from the views and excursions they encountered. However, it really does not matter where these experiences occur because it’s the people in your life that make them memorable. If one is wealthy and receives all the attention for the wrong reasons from their peers, they aren’t going to have meaningful experiences with them. Therefore, it does not matter how rich you are if you have the mentality that life is a gift that is priceless.
It’s important for an individual to use their money to take care of themselves first, so they are then able to help others. However, using that wealth to benefit others instead of yourself is even more recommended. It is apparent that tending to other’s needs helps to tend to one’s own. The act of kindness is so rewarding to see that your actions are making someone else’s day. This is why I don’t think that money is more important than happiness because although you can use the money to help people, it is the genuine intentions and actions that develop appreciation and happiness.
