Virtual learning and online classes took a whole new avatar with the global coronavirus pandemic. With talks going round about making this medium of learning and instruction a permanent option, it is bound that we can expect some challenges in upgrading to this new way of conducting business. The sudden shift to the virtual classroom has resulted in causing an increased burden on the data center infrastructure of the various educational institutions.

Modular data center is the solution to help with this situation. Modular data centers are becoming a reliable way to ensure the bringing together an efficient, secure, resilient and flexible setup that can provide seamless service, even during downtime or power cuts. Let us understand a little more about modular data centers.

What Are The Benefits Of A Modular Data Center?

As the learning landscape evolves, modular data centers seem to be the appropriate tool to tackle the issues that the current data center management operators are facing. Some of the unique benefits of modular data centers are:

Time

As soon as the pandemic broke out, we took little time to understand the gravity of the situation. Lockdowns and distancing followed, which gave very little space to ramp up how we were previously functioning. Schools and colleges had to go into the virtual mode instantly and deliver high-quality online classes. Modular data centers are excellent for such cases since they consume very little time to install and start their functions. This is because these new data centers are an all-in-one solution that comes with all the essentials like server racks, data center cooling mechanism, backup UPS, emergency generator, and fire suppression system-all in a ready to use setup.

Space

Several schools and college campuses in India are decades old and are not equipped with the facilities of a modern building that can accommodate data centers. Also, many newly built educational institutions lack enough physical space, resulting in the same challenge. The modular data center tackles this issue as it can be installed quickly and safely outdoors adjacent to the building. All that needs to be done after installation is a connection to the data and electricity.

Futuristic

A modular data center is adequate to handle the current load and comes with the futuristic option of expanding its digital capacity as schools add different learning modules with time.

Competence

The data center dealer usually has the expert training and technical knowledge to handle related issues like installation, remote monitoring and management. This is helpful since it allows the IT staff of the institution to focus on other administrative matters.

Consolidated Approach

Usually, educational institutes went by the traditional practice of storing data and resources in individual department buildings. This at times leads to inefficiency, connectivity and managerial issues and a not-so-smooth user experience. However, with modular data centers, schools and colleges can enjoy a hybrid IT environment that is highly resilient and consistent.

Security

Going online now brings with itself the more significant issue of potential cyber threat and their related security. Hence, integrating data in a central unit helps cybersecurity professionals monitor and manage the network efficiently, thereby reducing physical and cybersecurity threats.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
