Hey people, its high time we address the feminist that is Lucy from Charlie Brown. We've been surrounded by the holiday season for a couple of months now, and with it comes the national broadcasts of every Charlie Brown holiday special ever. Enter: adults you can't understand, Charlie Brown's Debbie downer existence, Linus's wise words, and Lucy being a straight up B.A.B. Lets break it down shall we?
1. She speaks candidly and doesn't hold back.
First off, lets all acknowledge that Charlie Brown is in need of a serious wake up call in every single episode. Like, COME ON BUDDY. It's redundant and the staple concept behind the specials, but Lucy is the voice of reason every one wishes they could be. She's always there to tell Charlie Brown what's what and she gives zero craps about how she breaks the news.
2. She's an ambitious entrepreneur.
I mean, she starts her own psychiatric advice booth for god's sake. She charges her patients five cents and then proceeds to counsel them. I think "shark" is a good adjective for how she handles her business. Granted she gives horribly nonsensical advice, but she's only a kid so give her some slack.
3. Her self-esteem is out of this world.
You should always believe that you can do anything and be anyone you want to be. Lucy van Pelt is exactly the epitome of extreme self confidence. She walks her world believing that the world is her oyster, just how the world was meant to be viewed. Slay girl, slay.
4. She knows what she wants.
Throughout the series, Lucy has a never ending crush on Schroeder, the quiet expert pianist. Though she never actually makes any head way in showing her affections in a good way, often coming off abrasive and uncaring, she never denies that she likes him. She wears her heart on her sleeve like it was made to be there.
So no, she may not be the most eloquent or the most refined woman to ever grace the television screen, but there is never a time when she denies herself and conforms to the world around her. She could use a lesson in kindness and her communication skills need some work, but she's got feminism on lock. WHAT A GEM.
