I like to keep myself extremely busy, and that is okay.
Living a busy lifestyle is obviously not for everyone. Some people may not want the stress or constant rushes of adrenaline knowing they have "x" amount of time to get from point "a" to point "b" or a long to-do list. In fact, I am not sure how I built up a desire to do so either, but here I am, never bored, perfectly content, and somehow never stressed.
Here are four reasons why I love to keep a busy schedule:
1. Staying busy keeps me motivated and productive.
I am far more productive in a busy atmosphere compared to one that is on my own time. Every productive day will be a good day and vice versa. Do not get me wrong, I enjoy free days and relaxation, but anyone who knows me knows that I cannot do so for more than a two day span. I don't want this to be confused with procrastination. As a perfectionist, that is personally not my style. I live for productivity. There is nothing like the feeling of crossing things off my lists and knowing what I have accomplished.
2. Living a busy lifestyle keeps me focused on a specific topic for a set amount of time.
By living in this mentality, I have learned how to better focus and disengage from distractions. A busy schedule allows for little time to be distracted by negativity or worrisome thoughts and thus providing me with a happier persona.
3. I have learned how to be better organized.
I live by my to-do lists and calendar. If you were to dump out my purse, all you would find are post-its, calendars, and note cards decked out in lists. If you were to hack my phone, you would find exactly 17 lists. Yes, I just counted. Remember Carrie from "John Tucker Must Die?" Well, I am the real life version of her. But seriously, I keep my ducks in a row and I couldn't imagine it any other way.
4. I have taught myself impeccable time management.
There are simply not enough hours in the day, so why waste an hour figuring out what to do first? Knowing what to do and where to be at a certain time keeps me from going crazy. As long as you seem to know what you're doing, people will think you have it together. Nobody wants to be the person unaware of what is going on.
