Why I Love Nazareth College
Allysa Gibson

Nazareth College welcomed me with open arms the day I came for my tour of the school during April of my senior year of high school. I was stressing over where I was going to go to school for the next four years, and the anxiety just kept overwhelming me as decision day kept creeping up sooner. After my long, six hour drive from my small hometown in New Jersey, I finally made it to Nazareth in Rochester, New York. It was such a relief to step on this beautiful campus and just take it all in.

As soon as I met my tour guide and some of the staff, I knew the people here were very nice and welcoming. We started our tour from the cute admissions house and made our way to the Golisano Academic Center, with it's breathtaking architecture and history. All of the buildings on campus are so unique and beautiful in their own way. The dorms are nice and the food is good. I just felt so comfortable while walking on campus.

Now that I'm in my sophomore year here, I love it even more. I've made so many good friendships and relationships with so many people that I can tell are going to last a lifetime. From people in classes to professors and advisors, I'll always have a connection to Nazareth. The student body is so friendly and welcoming here. I couldn't believe how nice people were just when I was touring, let alone when I began my studies here. I can say hello to anyone and essentially make a new friend. The staff is always kind and understanding. Academically, I've succeeded thanks to the kind professors and helpful classmates. The programs here at Naz are great along with the technology around campus that is available for use.

I have been given the opportunity for so many great groups and jobs just in my short time here as well. I now work in the costume shop during the week, and I love it. My Intro to Theatre course required me to take a lab section, and I chose to do it in the costume shop on campus. From this, I was offered to work there and get paid. There are so many ways that a class of club can lead to a job or internship opportunity on or off campus, you just have to seek and want it. It's just amazing how open and resourceful Nazareth is with that. On top of that, I was an orientation leader this fall and had the chance to help welcome the class of 2020! It was a wonderful experience to start my year off with.

The overall environment at Nazareth College is so peaceful and tranquil. There are so many places to sit and relax while doing homework. The buildings and dorms are very nice and like my second home. There are so many clubs and activities to participate in, also. From ultimate frisbee to major specific clubs, there's something for everyone. If you're an athlete, the sports teams here are pretty good as well! The games are so fun to go to with friends and support our Golden Flyers. The events that are held around campus are always a good time, too. I enjoy the Pinterest nights and Homecoming Weekend. The weekends always have something.

Though I'm a while away from home, I couldn't imagine being anywhere else at this point in my life!

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
