Why I Love My Bullet Journal

Why I Love My Bullet Journal
Rebecca from Hip Homeschooling

So earlier this summer I started a bullet journal, and while I have not kept with it as diligently as I had hoped it has become something I wish to continue for the rest of my life. If you are unfamiliar with bullet journals you might want to look through Instagram. It is a journaling style that has gained popularity in the last couple of years. It is particularly popular with the minimalist societies but has found its way into many other journaling groups. It is a combination of your to-do list, your original journal, and planner; and really anything else you want it to be! It is great for a person who hates to have multiple notebooks that you use on a constant basis or if you just do not want to denote that beautiful journal to one cause!

Here is a little guide I started out with from Kim at Tiny Ray of Sunshine

A bullet journal is easily made your own because there is no set way to make one! It is actually rather hard to encompass what a bullet journal might be because it is whatever you decide to make it! Personally, mine is a tracker, event planner, writing a journal, art journal, and where I put my reminders!

With the popularity of the bullet journal, there has been a few thousand or more post on individual's bullet journal. There are always new ideas, and banners people have added to the journal. It has become a community of busy and creative people! There are even whole blogs and Pinterest boards about how people make, decorate, and organize their bullet journals. It is wonderful as a newbie to this style of journal keeping to know that there are people who love to give you tips and ideas on how to improve your journal and put it to good use!

It has to be one of the most useful things in my life! I have always carried a notebook with me, but like many notebook-keepers I have too many notebooks to keep with me on the go. So condensing into one was a great way. I have so many little thoughts throughout the day that I want to record, as well as notes, event planning, and general art journaling I love to do that this was an easy way to make it portable. Even in my small bags! However, I was worried about keeping organized but with so many easy ways to keep bullet journals organized ( such as tagging or as they go indexes) I am still able to keep a relatively clean notebook.

Now that I can keep all my notebooks in one, I can keep it on me throughout the day. This helps be not only keep track of everything I write down but help in explanations. If you are a visual learner or know people who are it is good to keep some type of paper on your person. I use this to explain DIY projects, to myself as a plan and also for the people I ask for information or help on the project.

Bullet journals are great for everyone who like to keep a journal or planner. It is a unique by allowing the individual to use the system to recreate a journal into their own personal system. I love how I have been able to stay organized, artistic, and share ideas in a community around bullet journals!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
