Comic Conventions and other similar fan events have been around since the early 1970s. Since then, the Comic Con industry has exploded into an event that fans of everything related to pop culture can enjoy. The Comic Convention Industry has evolved into an event that is enjoyable for fans of every kind of taste—and that’s why I love it so much. There’s something for everyone! Whether you like video games, superhero movies, anime, or anything in between, you’re bound to find something you like making it a very diverse experience.
The term “Comic Con” may throw people off and turn some away to the popular event. People get the misconception that comic con is only for people who like comics, while in reality the convention has a much wider variety of things for people of all ages to enjoy. And while comics definitely consumes a piece of the convention, there are plenty of other things for people of all ages.
Comic Conventions have a little something for everyone. If you like art, there’s an entire section dedicated to art called Artist’s Alley. If you like video games, many conventions have new games fans can try out on display, and even tournaments for popular video games. There are plenty of venders that sell a wide variety of merchandise from homemade jewelry, to products from Japan, to booths upon booths of vintage comic books.
I love going to Comic Conventions! It makes me excited to go to an event surrounded by people who have the same interests as me, and enjoy something that makes me happy. I love meeting new people at conventions, and talking to them about things I normally wouldn't be with others.Every person I meet at conventions is always so happy and positive, with nice things to say. Sometimes people will complement me on a cosplay I am wearing, and others will want to take photos with me.
At Comic Conventions, everyone is equal. There is no fighting, or “fan wars” over which fandom is better. Everyone comes together to enjoy the convention, and make amazing memories being surrounded by the things they love. But above all, I love the feeling of going to a convention and being able to be myself. I don’t have to put on a mask and pretend to be something I’m not— I’m able to be who I am and not get judged for it.
When I go to Comic Conventions, I feel like everyone around me is a distant family member. We’re all connected one way or another by a fandom, and I’m able to relate to that person and feel like I really do belong in the community. I recommend Comic Conventions to everyone, and think it is a really special event for people of all ages!
