Why I Love For King And Country

Their music is beautifully written, but what they say at their concerts speaks directly to the heart.

Why I Love For King And Country
Breanna Culajay

This year has been a year full of new experiences, love, joy, and music. I have been to nine concerts this year and experienced music from many amazing artists. Music, to me, is my life. Music speaks to people and helps them go through things in life, whether it be bad or good. I listen to a broad range of music from various bands, but my favorite group to see live, is a Christian contemporary band called “For King and Country”. I saw them many times this year, and whenever I see them, I always leave the concert with a great feeling.

I remember when I first saw this band two years ago at Winter Jam. They sang their hit songs “Shoulders”, and “Proof of Your Love”. I had heard the songs before, but I didn’t connect the songs with the artist. But after I saw them, I was instantly obsessed. Their music spoke to me unlike any other type of music had in the past. Songs like “Fine Fine Life”, and “It’s not over yet”, make me feel like I can overcome anything in my life because of Jesus Christ.

In November 2015, I met one of the bothers from the group, Joel Smallbone. He was so nice and kind, and such a gentleman. The beginning of this year I met his brother, Luke Smallbone at a Winter Jam concert. A few months past and I bought meet and greet passes to meet them at a Christian music festival called Alive Festival. I didn’t think they were going to remember me, so when it was my turn to talk to them, I was going to say that you two probably don’t remember, but we meet a few months back. Before I was even able to say that, Joel said “Didn’t we meet before?” I can’t even tell you how excited I was that he remembered me. Luke remembered me to, so that made me even more excited.

My love for their music grew each time I listened. Their music is beautifully written, but what they say at their concerts also speaks to my heart. Every concert, they want their fans to know that girls of every age are “Priceless”. They also call men to rise to the challenge and treat women with respect and honor. They proclaim that chivalry is not dead, and I believe that. I believe that there are still men and women that know their worth, and will not settle for second best. This group means so much to me. I encourage anyone that hasn’t heard of them or their music to go and get a copy of both of their Cd’s. I guarantee that it will change your life for the better.

This band has been such an impact on my life over the last three years. I love when people you see on stage are the same as they are in person. These guys are so authentic, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for them.
