Attending Eastern Michigan University is by far the best choice I've ever made in my life. When I was researching colleges my Junior year in high school, I didn't even look into this school. I'm still not sure how I found about this university but here I am, living on campus and I even have an on-campus job working night watch (it's a complicated job, I don't want to explain it haha). But now that I'm here I couldn't be happier.
But I picked this university over Central Michigan University and Lansing Community College, because I felt at home. I immediately felt accepted for who I was, a Catholic, bisexual, depressed and anxious teen. When I told my mom that I wanted to visit this school, she was confused because I had never mentioned it during my junior year when I was researching schools, but during my senior year I discovered this school and decided to go on a tour. As soon as I went on the visit, I knew this would be the place I would spend my life for the next four to five years, depending on my major (which was music therapy at the time of my school choice).
When I was searching for a room mate, I stumbled upon Linda. Linda is a My Chemical Romance and cat lover to the extreme, but a perfect match for my also crazy lifestyle. We love the same kind music and we love to play it loud. We share so much together and will rant about the stupidest things sometimes and talk about how guys suck. I've heard horror stories about roommates and I'm so glad that is not the case for me.
Then there was Bella, later on at the beginning of the year. She is now probably my best friend that is a girl. She is quite possibly the best thing to have happened to me at Eastern (besides a roommate who can deal with my crazy antics). She knows what makes me tick and knows what to do when I'm livid and nothing really can calm me down. She knows how to make me laugh when I'm crying and that no matter what, I'm happy to have her as my friend.
And there's Katt, Griffin, Gabriel and Kareem. They have all made the transition into adulthood a lot easier than I expected and I'm so happy and proud to call them my friends. They make life for me so much happier and they give me advice on hard situations. Most importantly, they lift me up when I'm at my lowest and will hold me when I cry.
Eastern Michigan has given me the life and friends I have always wanted. And I cannot be happier with my choice to attend this amazing school.
