When you are little, it is all about running downstairs to see all the presents Santa has left for you under your tree and in your stocking is why you are known for loving Christmas. Besides the strong religious ties, this time of year is about spreading joy, making memories, keeping traditions and giving to others.
For as long as I could remember, I adored Christmas and everything that came with it; the music, the weather, the traditions, but my favorite part the gift-giving. Shopping for the perfect gift for someone is something I take pride and joy in. The look on someone's face when they open the gift you know is absolutely perfect for them and seeing the joy it brings them is a gift in itself. Spreading joy by something so simple in the act of giving a gift to someone is something that should be noted by more people and how it can bring you closer to someone.
Being together with your family and friends at this time of year always seems to harbor some of the best memories and of course traditions. Whether it is leaving cookies and carrots out of Christmas Eve, attending a midnight mass, making gingerbread houses, opening that one present on Christmas Eve right before bed. All of these things become heightened at this time of year when everyone is together and sharing the same traditions. It is never to early to start that, and it also shouldn't just be a one season thing. Everyone should spread joy regardless of the amazing music starting to be played and decorations being put up way too early.
This magical and wonderful time of year is something we are always taught to hold on to. With the the holiday season up comes faster than we think it will, remember to spread joy and love to others. It can be through the simplest things, but put them before yourself in the sake of Christmas. And always don't forget to jam to your favorite Christmas playlist while making the Pillsbury cookies and wrapping the gifts you bought to make others smile.
