In my last article, I made a list of some of my favorite Christian songs. This time, I wanted to go into more detail of why I love Christian music. One of the reasons I love it is because of its power in impacting other people’s lives. I was listening to the K-LOVE radio station and they talked about the results of a listeners 30 day challenge and if you don’t know what that is, click here. Anyway, it was a story about a husband and wife and the husband was never a believer. After his wife challenged him to take the 30 day challenge with her, she began to see a massive change in her husband. The wife stated that her husband has had his radio tuned to K-LOVE now for over eight months and that he helps out with their church and it’s youth group. She says that he is more than the man she married and he is changed in so many ways. Hearing that was so empowering to me because it shows the power of music and what the simple words of the Lord can do for a person. If you have never tried the 30 day challenge, I strongly encourage it because it is so life changing!

Another reason that I love it is because of what it does for me personally. I find the songs to be very comforting in times of need and distress because I think that it’s super cool to be able to hear the Lord speak to me through song. And for the many more times of praise I find it so amazing to have a way to worship my God with music and be able to sing to Him.

Something else I enjoy about Christian music is the chance to discover now songs during church. At the church that I go to, it’s more modern and we sing contemporary Christian music that you would find on the radio. I think thats awesome because I’m able to understand the message better and I feel like the words speak to me more. I love singing to words to God and seeing how everyone else around me does the same. Seeing other peoples love for God is so inspiring to me and I think it’s really cool to be able to share my love of Jesus Christ with other people and see how Christian music speaks to them.

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
