Why I Love 'Big Brother'

I’m sure you’ve all heard me talk about CBS’ reality show, "Big Brother." It’s a show in which there are 16 houseguests who are cut off from the world while being under constant surveillance. The summer of 2016 features season 18 of the show. And when I started watching it back in June, I was not expecting to love it so much. I don’t know how many of my readers watch the show, but I hope I can bring some of you over to the dark side -- just kidding!

1. It’s something to look forward to as it gets closer to summer.

2. Every summer is a whole new group of houseguests that bring all new personalities.

3. It’s on three times a week so you never have to wait long for an episode.

4. There are constant live feeds on CBS.com and Twitter.

5. Along with "Big Brother After Dark" late at night on TV.

6. They start out with twists in the beginning of the season.

7. Then they throw twists in mid-season just for the fun of it.

8. There is likely a competition for an evicted houseguest to move back in.

9. You can develop your favorite two or three houseguests.

10. You have a mini celebration when your least favorite houseguest gets evicted.

11. Even if your favorite houseguests get evicted, they still have a chance to serve on the jury. So you’ll still see them here and there.

12. Sometimes, they’ll even bring back a houseguest from a previous season.

13. You get to know the houseguests almost like your best friends as the season goes on.

14. Once you find someone else who is a "Big Brother" fan, you can have hour long conversations about the season.

15. And once the season has ended, you can go back to living your life until the next summer.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
