It is that time of year again! The Bachelorette is back on air and this season's bachelorette won America's heart after hers was broken on national television last season of The Bachelor.
Joelle "JoJo" Fletcher took on the role of Bachelorette for this season and tonight everyone saw her journey for love begin. Now, many people believe that this show is phony and question whether or not you can find love on a television show in less than two months. Most of the relationships on the show tend to fall through but for the lucky ones, they have met their match. A question that has hung over the show season after season is, "What is the hype?" Why do people still tune in every night to watch one person date 25 people? I feel like it has a lot to do with our obsession for love. Majority of people have watched the Notebook with a box of tissues right next to them; as humans, we crave this deep love and if we can not have it, we want to be able to live through the process through someone else. In this case, we obsess over the Bachelorette and TV shows similar to this to watch the chase and be entertained by the never ending drama. Chris Harrison reminds us of this every time he says, "This will be the most dramatic season yet!"
As viewers, we get to go along on the high class dates whether that be helicopter rides over New York City or share a date with Jimmy Kimmel himself. We also follow the journey throughout the various countries and states they travel to almost as if we were there ourselves. Each viewer will have a fan favorite and every rose ceremony when their favorite is called a wave of relief will go over them. We feel the awkwardness on the group dates and the passion on the one on one dates. This season Jojo will be the one on the emotional roller coaster but all the fans will be strapped in on the seat next to her ready to tackle all the emotional highs and lows. A flower that once had nothing attached to it now symbolized a person's desire to pursue a relationship. Now, reading this you may stop and wonder, "This is crazy? Why do I keep tuning in?" You can't help it. You're as emotional invested as all the men/ women who are after the heart of one person. It may be a war for love but in the end when all the viewers watch that two hour finale, the hearts of thousands melt as someone gets down on one knee and we have a potential happily ever after.
We tune in for just that, the happily ever after because everyone wants that. Here's to another season of crazy twists and turns. Buckle up everyone it is going to be a crazy ride. Good luck Jojo. We are all rooting for you!
