Why I look Up In The Sky

A Poem For a Beloved Family Friend

Why I look Up In The Sky
Mary Mara

Sometimes the best people in our lives leave us. But sometimes it’s for the better. Whether it be for us, or for them. Being able to find something that makes you think of them is healthy, even just to say hi. Because letting go to someone you love is just too hard. This poem is for my friend Monica, I’ll never forget you and your beautiful soul.

Sometimes we look up in the sky

But for what reason?

Are we looking for birds? A plane?

Maybe something we aren’t aware of

Sometimes we have no reason

But I know the reason why I look up in the sky

It’s so much more than a random occurrence

Or to just see a thing

I look up in the sky

To see my friend because I miss her,

I look up in the sky

To smile at her,

I know the reason I look up in the sky

Is to make her day, and say

“Hey, I see you, you beautiful woman”

Because I know my friend is up there

Having the time of her life

Just like she would with me

I look up in the sky

Because I know she isn’t in pain anymore

And that’s a relief

I look up in the sky and I laugh

Because I know she would have loved that

My snort would make her snort

And the fun would never end

I look up in the sky

To show her that I still love her

And always will

I will never forget you,

I love you

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
