When it comes to college living, most people are fond of the opportunity to live on their own because of the many freedoms that that entails. Living on your own can help people grow in many more ways than they would have thought.

Usually, people begin to move out from their childhood homes at the college age period for many reasons. A main factor for moving away from home at this time is to be closer to school rather than having to travel to and then back from school. Other reasons include wanting more freedom and to experience new things that occur around college campuses. The people who have chosen to live on their own for a brief period in their young lives tend to realize that they are growing past their preexisting set of rules and guidelines placed on them by their parents. They begin a new journey in their own lives that allows them to develop their own sense of well-being that is different from their previous rules. This can appear to be a good and bad thing, but most of the time, this shows maturity among young people.

The freedoms that come from living on their own are very appealing to many young adults and give parents an encouraging nudge that their kids can take care of themselves. This notion, in turn, encourages many young adults to mature at the college age because they get to experience adult life. Living on your own facilitates better time management skills and more adequate planning of events. While the positives often are the main reason many choose to live on their own, there are also some negatives which tend to cause concern for many parents when their child first leaves. The negative effect of living on their own is that they might become inconsiderate of all rules including the ones that are basic rules in life. At that point, however, an intervention is needed in order to prevent further mistakes and to help rebuild the person's moral characteristics. In most cases, it doesn't get this extreme.

The positive outcomes of living on your own do outweigh the negative effects in many ways, some of those were stated. The main point is to remember that when living on your own, it can be challenging to stick with the rules, but you have to push yourself to do so because they will be with them the rest of your lives.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
