Why Life Is Better At The Beach

If you are ever having a bad day, do not fret-- there is a cure. Though it may not be the easiest cure to get to, it is always there waiting for you. For some reason, sand beneath your feet and salt in the air is a recipe for an instant calm, but hey, I'm not complaining....any excuse is a good excuse for the good life at the beach.

1. Sandcastles, sand art, burying your friends, and tanning.

There are quite a few things you can do with sand or on top of the sand that could keep you occupied for hours. Not only is the feeling of the sand in between your toes an instant calming effect, but soaking in some Vitamin D does wonders. If soaking in the rays doesn't do it for ya, what better distraction is there than to build your kingdom and very own castle?

2. Boogie boarding, body Surfing, skim boarding, surfing-- you name it.

Once you get bored of playing in the sand or laying out on the sand, take a cool dip in the water. Let your worries float over the waves or dive under them, or even better-- swim with them and let them hang ten! Take some time to soak in the salty sea and leave your problems in the deep!

3. Long walks on the beach.

There is nothing more calming then just you, the crashing waves, and a sunset strolling down the shore. But if you are like me, the best therapy is you and some of your girlfriends venting about all of your struggles while letting your feet be hit by the waves. By the end of your trek you feel better and forget how many miles you walked because you were releasing everything you had bottled up inside.

4. Hidden treasures.

The beach is filled with little gems, whether it is a sea shell, sand dollar, or starfish, there is always something to search for. Once you find that something, your entire day is made.

5. The memories.

The beach is a great place to have a party, a family gathering, a bonfire, be proposed to, have a week to let go and get wild after graduating high school, or even have an intense volleyball match. No matter what you are doing, the beach will wash away your worries and fill your mind with memories and experiences you will never forget.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
