Why a "Lesser of Two Evils?"

Why a "Lesser of Two Evils?"

I'm pretty sure I understand exactly what I'm getting myself into by writing this. And I also want other's to understand that I'm not terribly politically invested. I tend to steer clear of many political discussions; in fact, I often do not even engage in them, because persuading people on topics in this is almost completely useless/hopeless. But I have kept this in for quite some time during this election period. But I'm registered to vote, I plan on voting, and I do have my own say-so in this election just as any other person.

Our country seems to have approached an all-time low. I remember hearing Donald Trump's nomination and laughing at work because I thought it was some twisted "South Park" joke. I remember hearing about Hillary Clinton's nomination and wondering what made her feel like going in for round 2, because I understood how much she sucked.

But all policies and "lies" aside, I can honestly say that words are not just words. Words influence the mere harmony and cohabitation in which each of us lives. Words are much more powerful than simple "locker room talk" or the deletion of 33,000 emails. In fact, words are what we tend to base our endorsements of political candidates on. We take their promises, their dreams, their hopes and morph them into our own. We take their slogans and campaigns and envision the day when their words become actions. We put our trust in these people.

If grabbing women by their genitals, talking to them as if they're sheer bodies and not minds, and practically abusing the veto are actions you can't wait to see in office, then I suppose you are a person I need understand better. I'm honestly open to any reasons you have to justify the actions and words of Donald Trump.

I can honestly say that the words of our two main party candidates as of current sincerely scare the shit out of me. And for anyone, woman or man, to fully endorse Donald Trump is something I cannot seem to wrap my mind around... On my high school speech and debate team, I learned early on to study and thoroughly understand both sides of a topic. I learned to keep an open mind and to always understand that just because I affiliate with a certain party does not mean I should fully void/null the views of the latter party.

I can also honestly say, that in high school speech and debate I saw more elegance, tolerance, and understanding than I have ever seen between Senator Clinton or Trump. In both debates, I felt like I was watching two toddlers argue over the last cookie in a cookie jar. And the voters/citizens are no better. Some are even hashtagging "repealthe19th" because apparently without women voting, Trump would win by a landslide. What the F$%^?

For me to sit here and say that Trump's words on that tour bus in 2005 are merely words or that his close-minded, belligerent words throughout this campaign are merely words, that would be a disgrace and disservice to my own pride and my own defense. I am absolutely disgusted by this man. I do not want to envision a country with him as my leader. I do not want to live in a country ruled by an inconsistent, inconsiderate man who will go to all ends to get what he wants. In no way do I feel as though my (or anyone other than his own) well-being is priority.

He leads with words of discouragement. He lives a life of no consequences ultimately because he is (verbatim) "a star."

I believe this statement applies to both candidates on so many levels. It applies to neither candidate more than another, so understand me when I say....

Rules, laws, and equality apply to every person in this nation. Money, social status, or political party does not excuse you from the morals and laws that everyday citizens must abide by. Political correctness exists not because "liberals" want to find excuses for constant offense. Political correctness exists because there is an obligation for every person in this nation to be provided the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!

My pursuit of happiness (and so many others') feels jeopardized. I no longer feel safe. And I sure as hell no longer feel proud of who we are supposed to be. Whatever happens in the next four years will be written about for years to come. And for every step forward, we seem to take two steps back. I continue to have hope for the future, but we must realize the point we have reached. And it's not pretty.

So for those of you choosing Trump because he's the "lesser of two evils" I do hope you understand there are third party options (http://2016.presidential-candidates.org/). I do hope you understand there are options for write-ins (http://www.thewrap.com/google-searches-for-write-i...). If you recognize that either of these candidates are hopeless, please understand they are not your only options. Get out and vote. But let your gut-instinct speak.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
