I was always been unsure of what exactly I wanted to do for my future career. For me, there are endless opportunities in this world, and it was my belief that "we can't just choose one thing, right?" I wanted to do 50 different things, and if I had 50 different lives, I would do it all. The more I experienced, I came to the sudden unfortunate realization that I must choose one thing that I love above all else. I chose to do law, and day by day, I am so glad I made that decision. I gave up having to do those 50 different things if I can be one thing: successful as a lawyer.
Lawyers are filled with courage and the power to fight and never back down. They are extremely meticulous and precise, and are intense in everything they say and do. In our society, the title of "hero" is always given to our doctors, firemen, and policemen. And believe me, the title is rightfully given. But lawyers are deserving of that recognition as well. Their work keeps criminals and those with dangerous mindsets off the streets. Lawyers defend those that deserve the same rights as everyone else, regardless of the crime they committed. Lawyers help you through your injuries and car accidents. Lawyers fight for the company you rightfully own. Lawyers are incredible human beings, whose work goes unnoticed by the majority.
They are more than what they show in court. They work day and night behind-the-scenes, on cases and depositions, on hearings and trials. Giving up is not in the dictionary of a lawyer, they don't know how to give up. They are more than just the arguing and yelling in court; logical arguments and sound reasoning are used to justify their means. Everything done by a lawyer is intense, and, because of their hard work, our society and community is a safer and more humane place to live in.
I can think of a hundred different reasons as to why I want to become a lawyer. But the reason that trumps all others is that I am incredibly passionate about everything related to this field. If I cannot be successful in my career, then I have failed myself. I have a fascination with everything related to courtrooms and trials. I followed the Boston marathon bombing case from start to finish, and it was incredibly tiring and difficult. However, in the end, I am glad I did, because of all the knowledge I gained and continue to gain.
At first, I thought I my fascination was only directed to that one case itself. I did not think I could do it with thousands of cases, for the rest of my life. But as we got more and more into the trial, I realized that this is what I want to do every day, and I want to be great at what I do.
