Once you enter college, chances are you are bombarded with the abundance of clubs, organizations, and Greek life your school has to offer. As a commuter to college, the chances of you being actively involved in one of the organizations is pretty slim. It's not that you don't want to be part of the campus community, it's just inconvenient. When you live on-campus, the time you have available to meet is greater since you do not have to factor in the actual commute time, account for any traffic, or spend time circling the parking lot. This is how college was going for me, until the end of my sophomore year. I was asked if I was interested in becoming the Secretary of Commuter Affairs for the Student Government Association at my school. Since I had nothing to show for extracurricular activities on my résumé, I was fairly quick to say yes. Once I actually joined, and got to know everyone in the organization, I was sure that this was easily one of the best decisions I had made in college. Here is why SGA is definitely worth joining:
1. You'll actually feel like you're making a difference in your campus community.
