I have been watching "The Bachelor" and its other respective shows since I was a young girl. And I know what you're going to say… 'a child should not be watching something this degrading and inappropriate on television.' Well, what I would say to that is… blame my parents. It was always a family tradition to watch the show every Monday night and to say the least, I was obsessed. That is one of the many reasons why over ten years later I still enjoy watching the juicy drama unfold every week.
If you've been keeping up with the show, the last season of "The Bachelorette" showed up with some really good and eligible bachelors. Becca, the leading lady, had her hands full of potential with these men, to say the least. First, we have guys like Wills and Clay who both didn't make it that far in the game but they definitely stole the hearts of Bachelor Nation. And then, of course, there's Grocery Store Joe who had no clue that his life would be completely changed after that sad first night of eliminations. But I don't think any of these guys, not even the top 2, were as good as (and you can guess it from the title of this article)… Jason Tartick.
He was the man, the myth, the legend. This guy went from Becca not even remembering his name on a group date to being in the top 3. I mean talk about a 'started from the bottom, now we here' kind of moment. Jason was the embodiment of that phrase throughout the whole season. So now I'm asking ABC, the network that provides the three popular shows, why? Why did you not pick the underdog, Jason Tartick, for the next bachelor?
Here are my three main reasons on why I think they should've given Jason the next bachelor position…
1 He's charismatic and funny.
GiphyBesides Jordan Kimball, I personally think Jason was the funniest contestant on Becca's season. Like most of his appearance in the first half of the season, it went pretty unnoticed. But some of his one-liners and reactions to the craziness that was ensuing around him were definitely some of the best parts of the season. And I would honestly give anything for him to be the next leading man just because I want to listen to that New Yorker accent all day, every day.
2 He was Becca's backbone throughout the entire process
GiphyOne of the things that made Jason so great and stand out to me was how collected and confident he was during the whole season. Sure, everyone needs reassurance during this show because of the high stakes that are at hand but for the most part, he was pretty sure of himself and his relationship with Becca. There is a fine line between being too confident and not being confident enough. Jason walked that line the entire time and never tipped one way or the other. Which insinuates that he's comfortable in his own skin and he knows what he wants. Isn't that exactly what people want in a potential bachelor? He was always in the background until the end because there was no drama surrounding him. Which Becca definitely needed that in times of crisis. She would always go to Jason and know where she's at. Yeah sure, he wasn't the first to say the three big words but when he did, he made sure that he meant them, and that's pretty admirable if you ask me.
3 He's a normal human being and would truly be in this to find a wife.
GiphyThere's no bad blood against Colton. I love Colton, but does that mean he's ready to find his partner for life? I'm not so sure. It took him months after the breakup with Becca to fully move on. Now, it's only been a few months since he ended things with Tia at the end of "Bachelor in Paradise". Is he truly over her or is he going to carry the baggage of that relationship into the future bachelor season? There are so many questions surrounding Colton, as well as the other guys in the running like Blake Horstmann and Peter Kraus, but I personally think Jason would've been a solid choice for the leading male position. Some may say he's boring but the same people said that about Ben Higgins also, who is probably the best Bachelor we've ever had.
All I'm saying is that I think ABC made a mistake by not picking Jason. I will still be watching Colton's season because, as I said, I've been obsessed with this reality TV show since I was ten years old. I also do want to see Colton succeed in finding the love of his life because, at the end of the day, everyone deserves that. I just hope to see Jason find that too.
