Why It's Okay to Take Pictures

You should not be ashamed to capture your life through photographs.

Growing up in a society with the constant use of Instagram, VSCO and tumblr; there are going to be people who get heated. You may hear “stop taking pictures and just enjoy the moment” but pictures make the moment last longer.

1. Pictures Truly Capture 1000 Words

Each time you look back at a picture, an instant rush of memories comes back; who you were with and where you went and before you know it, a smile is plastered on your face. My favorite is to look back at pictures from when you were younger. Often you don't remember everything that happened on a certain day when you were five, but seeing a picture may spark a story from your parents.

2. Pictures Don’t Take Away From The Moment, They Embrace It

When you take a picture it is because you are happy with your company or where you are. The moment you capture is a time you would enjoy to look back upon. Looking back on pictures with friends or family gives you a nostalgic feeling. Pictures really bring the moment back to life, so spending one minute to capture it will allow you to cling onto a certain time in your life.

3. They Make You Get Up And Go Out

How many times have you seen a picture of a cute restaurant or a neat adventure spot and been like, “Wow, I need to go there?" If you're like me, that is a lot. Seeing cute places to go makes you get out of the house and be more adventurous. These times spent being exposed to new things, adds to your life experiences. And who doesn't love a cute, new ice cream shop?

4. A Boost in Your Self-Confidence

I'm a big supporter in self-confidence and doing things because they make you happy. VSCO is a place where people post pictures they enjoy, they don’t post for likes. It is a great feeling to see someone post a picture they are confident in and are posting for their own enjoyment.

5. A Way to Express Yourself

Whether your pictures are of that time you hiked a mountain, the time you ate rolled ice cream with your boyfriend, the time you and your friends went to the beach, a picture at your last family holiday, or even a picture of your dog; your pictures represent who you are and what you love. There should be no shame in showing that off.

So the next time some one makes you feel like a nuisance for snapping a picture, just know you will be happy later looking back at it. Take pride in your camera roll, show off your loved ones on Instagram, and cover your room in pictures — but always leave room for more memories to be captured through a lens.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
