Why It's OK To Be Considered Quiet

For as long I have known, I have always been considered quiet. At first, I took offense to this because it sounded as if something was wrong with me because I didn't have much to say. I was even judged when I was younger because I didn't yell out nonsense during class or didn't try to start up random conversations to complete strangers. However, let's not get it twisted, being quiet does not mean you're shy at all. In fact, there's nothing wrong with being quiet at all.

We quiet people are usually the best people to confront your problems or secrets to, because who is better to vent to than the quiet girl who you know will keep her mouth shut. Tell us what's bothering you or your deepest confessions, because we will be one of the most trustworthy people you meet and a possible good friend in the outcome.

Once you start a conversation with someone who usually keeps to themselves, then they can talk for hours. We love conversing with new people and can hold an interesting conversation with anyone, no matter the topic. So please don't hold back because we want to hear it all, and we're not socially awkward at all.

Compared to more outspoken people, quiet people appear less threatening since we are more approachable in many aspects. However, I'm not saying that all outspoken people are threatening and all quiet people are approachable, I'm just stating a personal opinion. There's is a less sense of judgement when you open up to a quiet person, and we're just not intimidating people at all.

The greatest thing of all about the less spoken is that we think before we speak. So before we blurt out something unintentional to make things go from bad to even worse, we can avoid that whole predicament. Life can be hard enough as it is, so watching what you say is nothing but beneficial.

So next time someone says "You're quiet" or "You should talk more," just know that nothing is wrong with that, and it's actually something to be very proud because it's what makes you, you. You should never have to doubt your traits or preferences, you should embrace them.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
