Are you constantly doing something, writing everything in your planner, and running from activity to activity? Do you have to schedule every minute of your day just to fit in everything you have to accomplish? Do people ask you if you are crazy? If any or the of the questions listed apply to you, consider yourself a busy body.
"You're always so busy, how do you have time to breathe?" --Everyone I know
A phrase I hear all too often. I tend to be busy all of the time. During the school year I'm a full-time student, a member of two clubs, I'm employed, and somehow manage to have a social life. People who know me are always asking me if I have a death wish because of the amount of things I'm committed to. My response is always, “I wouldn't have it any other way." I've always been busy; it's my way of life. In high school I was an athlete, an honor student, a part of student government, and on student council. I loved having things to look forward to and work toward. Without activities, classes, work, or social outings, life gets pretty boring.
Do I get tired of it from time to time? Of course I do. We all get a little burned out no matter what you have going on. It’s all about taking time to yourself when you do have that downtime. Whether it is reading your favorite book, watching an episode of your favorite show, taking a bath, or talking to a friend on the phone, just take some time to do something purely for enjoyment.
Staying busy can get overwhelming, but if you utilize all of the great tools out there like a classic planner, Google calendar, or even the calendar in your phone, you can stay organized and get everything done. By taking the time to write it down in some way, shape, or form, you are committing the activity to memory. You're less likely to forget you had something going on if you have written it down somewhere. Your brain can only process so many things at once.
With being busy comes forgetfulness, so take my advice when I say factor in travel time and times to eat. You won't be able to keep going, going, and going, like the Energizer Bunny, if you have no food in your system. Plus, if you already add these times into your schedule, you won't have to worry about being late for your other scheduled tasks.
It's OK to be busy all the time as long as you are enjoying it. There is no rule saying that you have to be constantly doing something, but if it's what keeps you going, do it. If it makes you irritated to schedule things out, then go with the flow. Do what makes you comfortable.
