We all have pet peeves, and higher expectations than the norm, but that is okay.

Why It's OK To Be High Maintenance
Lady One

We are clean, organized and needy. We may feel the need to be very hygienic and put together every day. We can’t stand when there are messes around the house, or in small places. When we need something, we will usually get it ourselves, or ask someone to do it or get it for us. Things must go our way and only our way. Remember, women are always right, just leave it at that. We have a high pride in the way our appearance looks. We can be difficult or challenging to handle. We all have pet peeves, and higher expectations than the norm, and that is okay. We do not have an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, it is just the humans we are. You can’t tell me that we are the only people in the world like this, because men can be this way too. Either way, we don’t care, we know we are high maintenance. Being the way we are, can result in being responsible, and honest. We don’t carry around our opinions, we let loose.

High maintenance women are difficult, but we have goals. We are the kind of women who keep ourselves active every day. Whether that be running errands, or getting up to shower, we continuously have something to do repetitively. We aren’t boring, we are exciting and energetic. We can be very sweet and social, but if you piss us off, that’s your fault. It is still okay to be high maintenance.

It is OK, we have dreams. We have things we go for and we won’t stop until we do it. It just means we are more likely to do your laundry and plan the day than sit around and wait for nothing. We are the type of women who like the attention and affection. If we are speaking to you, make eye contact, or you will have one unhappy lady. If we are sad, comfort us, we don’t like to be ignored. Showing that you care about how we feel makes us all feel better. If it’s our birthday, we are the type to make that day one hundred percent about us, and only us. Did I mention high maintenance women are also selfish at times? Not all the time, but sometimes. Money isn’t an importance to us, living life in an organized, and healthy way is what gets our attention. Money is still nice here and there, so men, do not get any ideas. Overall high maintenance women are successful and smart. We know how to be sneaky, and be serious too.

It’s OK because it is our personality. High maintenance, teaches us to care about ourselves and our lives. It teaches us that we have a future ahead to be ready to take on. We have men or children that we might have to care for one day. It teaches us the meaning of striving for your goals, and not stopping. It tells us women that we are made of gold. We can be anyone we want. We are needy, but that is okay. We are organized, but that is okay. We are honest and blunt, but that is okay. Women have to express themselves which makes us feminine.

So, the next time you meet a high maintenance women, tell her thank you. Thank you for being the woman that has goals, responsibilities, and dreams. Although, tell her thank you, thank you for being clean, cause you will have a nice house one day. Tell her thank you for being put together too, because who doesn’t want to look good when they go out in public? Overall, tell her thank you for being a woman, because if it wasn’t for her expectations, your laundry might not be done next week.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
