Breathe in, breathe out, everything is going to be okay.
Your eyes don't deceive you - yes, it is perfectly fine to listen to Christmas music right after Halloween. I do realize I may be chastised by the lovers of those who prefer to not skip holidays, but who said anything about forgetting Thanksgiving?
No one.
No one said listening to Christmas music before December 1st constitutes the exile of Thanksgiving. Now the main reason I fight for the right to listen to Christmas music as soon as the clock strikes midnight on November 1st is because I feel as if 25 days is not enough time to get the full Christmas song listening experience. Why would you knowingly limit yourself to only 25 days of the most wonderful time of the year?
There are just far too many wildly popular, traditional, happy hit tunes to fit into a 25 day range without you wanting to bang your head on your car dash board because you've heard Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer about 585 times in a 24 hour period, even though that is physically, emotionally, scientifically, and mathematically impossible. Unfortunately, there aren't any Thanksgiving songs or believe you me this article would speak of nothing, but respect for those turkey day jingles.
But we do not live in that world at this point in time.
Instead, we are blessed with the greats like Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and of course, All I Want for Christmas Is You. According to a scientific study I made up in my head with myself as the only test subject, Christmas music is very calming to the nerves and automatically makes you feel better no matter how upset you are. Life is too short and Christmas is too magical to keep yourself from enjoying it an extra month of the year.
So to all you doubters, as my mom always said when I was a devil child who didn't want to eat my vegetables during dinner, please take a "thank you bite," of Christmas music in November. There is still time! You've still got a week and a half to treat yourself to the joys of Christmas music. Isn't is always true that we need a little Christmas? Right this very minute?
At the end of the day, whether you are a believer in treating yourself to little extra holiday festivities, or focusing straight on that turkey this lovely upcoming Thursday, one thing we can all agree on is that Thanksgiving and Christmas is a time to be with families. It is a time to give and be surrounded by happiness, support, and love.
Also, none of that applies to Black Friday *wink wink*.
Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and be nice to each other!
