Dr. April Kepner is so much more than just a character on "Grey's Anatomy," she's a pillar of hope. In the world of Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, morals are almost unheard of. However, that's not the case with April. She has a strong set of morals, and believes in the wholeheartedly. She's been thrown her fair share of curveballs, but she hasn't lost her faith. Her relationship with God is what makes her such an amazing role model to today's youth.

Today's world is full of Merediths and Christinas, full of girls who are cold and have let their circumstances harden them. April shows us that it's okay to be vulnerable and that sometimes it's okay to wear your heart on your sleeve. You don't always have to be strong, sometimes it's okay to fall apart. But at the same time, she always stands back up stronger than before. She knows exactly how much she can take and refuses to be pushed.

Her faith is unparalleled. Even after the loss of her child, she believed. She believed that there was a purpose and that she was living for a God who is close to the broken hearted. She took her grief and saved lives. She channeled all her anger and grief into helping other people. She didn't crumble, she thrived. That's a lesson we could all learn from.

She never gives up on her marriage. Even long after Jackson gave up, she still believed that they could work things out and save their marriage. This is so rare in today's world. Everyone wants to give up so easily. April grew up in a home where, if something was broken you fixed it you didn't throw it away. This is something so important that today's world has forgotten.

When she found out that she was expecting again, she believed that God would deliver her a healthy baby. Even though she's a doctor and lives in the world of medicine, she refuses any testing that could prevent what happened to Samuel. She gives it to God and has faith that He will deliver. When it's time for the baby and the circumstances are far less than ideal, she adapts. She sacrifices her comfort and wellbeing for the sake of the healthy delivery of her child. She underwent a C-section outside of a hospital, without proper sterilization or any sedation, all so that her baby would be healthy. She had faith in God's plan, and He delivered. She is an example for moms everywhere.

It's OK to be the girl with morals. It's OK to take the path less traveled by. You don't have to be a Meredith or a Christina because that's what's common or cool. It's perfectly OK to be an April Kepner.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
