Let's just be honest here: Life can get pretty rough. We have bad days, bad weeks, and sometimes we even label a whole year as bad. Sometimes we caught up in life's troubles and fail to realize that there's also a lot of good in life. Thanksgiving is a welcome reminder that we should appreciate all that life has blessed us with. But sometimes we forget that Thanksgiving is not the only time we should be thankful. Of course, we should always feel grateful for our loved ones, the roof over our heads, food on our plates, etc. That is a given. But what many people forget is that we have things to be grateful for every single day. Often, it is the little moments in life that can make us happiest in the midst of the bad days.

If we remember to be thankful for the little things every day, we will inevitably be happier. In every day, there is always reason to be grateful. If someone told you a funny joke in class, be thankful. At least for a moment, you smiled, you laughed, and you felt connected to another person. If someone lends you their pencil, be grateful. Someone helped you despite the fact that they didn't have to, and you no longer have the issue of not being able to take notes or finish a paper. It is little moments like these that many people often forget should be valued. Sometimes, these moments can turn our days around for the better, if we let them. By appreciating them, especially over time, we become happier because things are put into perspective. When you think about, there is a lot to be thankful for, even if many of these are the little things. This Thanksgiving, and for every day thereafter, remember to be thankful for the little things in life. They make life worth it, and it is truly amazing.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
