Why It's Important to Be Aware

Consciousness is Everything

Throughout our lives, we go on a daily basis doing routines. We wake up, get ready for school/work; get coffee; and then rush wherever we need to be. However, there are very rare instances in which people become truly and deeply aware of who they are as well as their surroundings.

I am writing this article at random to give a comparison to who we are as people and how certain parts of who we are, are related to nature.

If you notice things carefully, be aware of certain patterns and laws in nature. The elements that exist in land also exist in us. Sometimes, to regain consciousness, we have to find a place of solitude, stop what we are doing and just listen within.

Our lungs are like hot, compressed air, waiting to be released. Sometimes, the deeper the breath, the deeper the strength we will be building inside-- just like the stronger the wind, the stronger the effect it will have on Earth. Deep breaths are also linked to lower blood pressure.

The temple inside and around us is precious. Think of it like the Earth’s lands. We have mountains of organs that cannot function without one or the other. Our skin is like dirt, aimlessly transporting nutrients in and out of the body in order for us to maintain a state of healthiness.

Water is the electricity of our being. When it comes into contact with us, it can zap us with its intensity. The body actually needs water to survive. If you pay close enough attention, you can feel the water’s energy when it comes into contact with the skin, just like how a dry, barren piece of land feels instant contact with water when it first enters the ground.

Sometimes, when we look at lights in this Earth, we are oblivious to the intensity of heat the light radiates, until we come into contact with the light heat. Smaller lights radiate smaller and less intense quantities of heat, while large sources of light radiate larger quantities of heat. It’s like looking at a pollution stack that gives off clear fumes that you can see in the day time. The heat is not thick with whiteness, but it’s still intense to the point where you can still see it.

Other times, we have lost the art of what it truly means to hear. Sure, we hear things and are aware of them, but are we truly aware? Do we truly understand their every syllable and meaning behind what people and other creatures are trying to communicate with us? Next time, when you really want to try and understand what someone or something is trying to tell you, stop what you are doing and really focus and concentrate. Listen to the best of your ability and deep down, you will grasp a new type of understanding.

Try to notice things in life. Notice the patterns on buildings, clothes, random objects. If you look closely enough, you will see that certain structures in one thing also exist true in nature. Look at someone’s sweater. Maybe the swirls of the cloth/how someone sewed it are similar to how the outer shell of a seashell swirls in the ocean. Maybe the intensity of your eyes resemble that of a lake or a mirror. Or maybe the waves of your hair can be compared to how a waterfall looks from afar.

The possibilities of comparisons in nature are endless. Pay attention to all five senses and everything around you. You can find comparisons when you take a moment to yourself, free from stress and thoughts, and simply be aware. Clear your mind, and you will find certain patterns and laws of nature that exist to be true in time. Look within your body and the land and the expansions can start beyond and within.

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

(For Girls Who Are Interested In Greek Life)

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
