Why It's Important To Know Your Self-Worth

This article is dedicated to anyone who has yet to realize their self-worth.

Self-respect is absolutely the most important quality anyone can have. It is all about having pride and confidence within yourself, carrying yourself with dignity and understanding how incredible you really are and what you are capable of accomplishing.

With all these contorted standards within society regarding "beauty" and what it means to be "cool" or "popular," a lot of people underestimate themselves. Well, it's time you realize that you are special and worth way more than you give yourself. After all, how you feel about yourself greatly impacts a variety of aspects in your life.

That being said, if you cannot understand how to value and appreciate yourself, then it's time you take a step back to admire who you are and all you have yet to be. Think of how far you have already come and what is ahead.

It's sad yet true that many people accept to be in positions and relationships that are way beneath them due to the fact that they underestimate their value. They do not strive for better because they do not think they can.

However, it is imperative that you respect and honor yourself. Set high goals and even higher standards. Do not limit yourself at all and never doubt yourself. If you let people treat you poorly, you are doing everything all wrong. Life is too short to be involved with toxic people who bring you down. Do not be afraid to stand up for yourself and even walk away if necessary. Have pride. Do not let anyone define your worth.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course, yet do not let those opinions influence you in any way, shape, or form. Understand that the only perspective that matters is your own. You are important.

With high self-esteem, you are as powerful as can be. Have confidence and you will be driven to succeed throughout life. Never limit yourself from any opportunity. Be fearless.

Life is full of potential and it's no fun if you spend it putting yourself down. You are your own enemy when it comes to comparing yourself to others. Once again, remember no one is you and that is magical.

Love yourself, embrace yourself. Take pride in all you have to offer. Stay humble.

So stop crying over that boy that won't text you back or doubting yourself because a girl said no when you asked her on a date. Keep your head held high and believe in yourself because anything is possible. You are worth way more than you ever thought possible. Work hard and achieve great things.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
