Living in a “grab and go” society, we rarely ever have the time to stop and take a breather. We are always rushing from one place to the next. We are so used to going to school/work; rushing to the drive thru; and then going home. Besides sleep, when do we ever have a moment of solitude?
In society, especially living in the 21st Century, I believe it is beneficial to stop what you are doing-- even if it’s for a few minutes-- and clear your mind. There are many reasons behind why clearing your mind is not only good for your mind, but also good for your health.

Take a moment and stop all your thoughts. Write down any important thoughts and reminders down on a piece of paper if you need to. Now, stop thinking. It may take some time, but the more you become a pro at clearing your thoughts, the easier clearing your mind will become.
To help you clear your mind, observe where you are right now. Concentrate your energies on realizing your location. Now, listen to everything you hear around you. What do you hear? Trees? Cars? Wind? Once you come into the point of realization, you will have cleared your mind, free from any thoughts and obstructions.
One benefit of clearing your mind is that you can hear more and observe more. With such a busy mind, we often times forget about the things that are going on around us-- the things that are still the same conflicting with the things that are always changing around us.
With such an awareness of everything we see and everything that is happening around us, we will garner a sense of appreciation. We will begin to appreciate everything that we have-- our family, friends, house, and Earth, itself.
When you gather your awareness of surroundings, you will then start to come into realization of your inner self. You will notice any points on your body that may be in pain. Or, you may also notice how healthy you are and how every part of yourself is functioning properly. You will become in tune with your temporary and future wants and needs.
Your realization of your surroundings, wants, and needs will help alleviate any stress your brain and body were undergoing. This process may even alleviate a headache. For a time, you will forget what you were stressing about. Focusing onto everything but your mind will make you realize that everything you were stressing about doesn’t even matter. What matters most is you living in the moment, right here, right now.
In fact, with a simple session of clearing your mind, you will eventually begin to realize what truly and will always matter most to you in life. In life, there are many things that are perceived as temporary: friends, work, school-- nothing lasts forever. We all have different chapters in our lives; and the people, stress, and situations that are happening right now may not matter within the next 10 years. But in my opinion, dear friends and family always will.
The problems that were in your head a few minutes ago no longer exist right now. In fact, what were you stressing about? If you look around you, with a clear mind, you will notice that beyond where you are standing, sitting, or lying down right now, there is an immense amount of greater problems that are happening within this Earth and universe right now. Some days, we think the world is against us; but in reality, we have it easy compared to others.
If you practice “clearing your mind” every day, I believe you will become more spiritual. It will open your mind; and you will become more open and aware of everything around you. You will then realize that no one and nothing is perfect or consistent in this world-- even yourself. Everything is constantly changing and nothing lasts forever.
It’s a scary thought, at first; but the more you practice this calm mindset, the easier it will be for you to cope because you will understand. Once your mind is cleared--for however long-- you will be set free, mentally and spiritually!
With only a few minute session of clearing your mind, you will begin to notice how much peace you can acquire in this process. Nothing will seem to matter anymore. You will not worry about anyone or anything. It is simply you against the world and I think that’s the best feeling ever.
