It sounds cliché, but seriously, having guy best friends is the best thing you can do. Let's be honest: girls get annoying. Now, don't get me wrong, a lot of my best friends are girls. I would give anything to see them happy and to make sure that they never have any pain or sadness. But, besides my best girlfriends, I spend most of my time with the guys. And you know what? I absolutely love it. I could go on for years about why I love having guy best friends. But, I'll just go over some of my favorite key points.
1) Watching TV and Movies
When you are watching sports, which you almost always are, they can answer any question that you may have. Even if you know almost everything about the sport, there is apparently always something that you don't know, and they are quick to let you know what you are missing. But then, when it comes time for chick flicks, you are explaining everything to them, from how she'll never let go to why we wear pink on Wednesdays.
2) You can set them up with your girlfriends!
Instantly in the wedding party! Yay!
3) They can set you up with their friends!
Because I mean, if I scratch your back then you better scratch mine.
4) You always keep it real with each other.
When you're "one of the guys," you don't hold back when giving your buds advice or when you're telling them to get it together. And you know that you will always have them to keep it real with you, even when no one else does.
5) You have literally no secrets.
This kind of goes with #4, but I mean, it's so true. When you always keep it real with each other, you don't keep anything from each other. When the friend that you set them up with is being crazy, he will tell you. Or if you catch feelings for one of their friends, your guy best friends is the first person that you tell. You know that he will tell you exactly how that guy really acts and how he treats women and how much he loves his mom, which we all know is most important.
6) You don't have to try to act like a lady.
Wanna wear sweat pants and a t-shirt to dinner with the guys? Sounds perfect. They don't care what you wear. Want to go see a movie? You know that they won't judge you for getting a large Coke AND a soft pretzel. But when you do look nice, they make it a big deal for everyone to know, because it is a rarity if you are wearing a dress.
7) You can steal their clothes and hats as much as you want.
If your hair looks awful, you know that one of them has a spare hat that you can borrow. And there is also always a shirt you can borrow. Because, if you're messy like me, you always need an extra shirt. But hey, they basically have 8 of the same shirt, they won't notice if you never give back their Spring Rush Comfort Colors
8) You can be as weird as you want with them.
You guys hold NOTHING back from each other. You talk about anything and everything. They've heard your snort laugh and you've gotten their weird Snapchats. They know your obsession with pugs, and guess what. THEY LOVE PUGS TOO. You guys share a secret handshake and you do it literally all the time. Because I mean, why not? Y'all are BFF goals and everyone else should just be jealous. You guys just get each other. You won't judge each other for being yourselves. Their quirks and the weird face they make when they are watching an intense game is just a part of the reason why you love them with all that you have.
9) You don't always have to be together.
Guys are down to hang out when you want. But, when you want to just be alone and watch a movie at home, they are cool with that too. But, when you all hang out again, you can catch up on everything that has happened in the past 24 hours since you've seen each other last. Whether it be the nap you just took, the crazy friend you set him up with, or actual serious topics. If you need them, they will be there, and you will always be there for them. No matter how late it is or how tired you are, you will always be a phone call away from each other.
10) They are basically like your big brothers.
If you're crying because someone was mean to you, they will "handle them" for you. And this will make you stop crying instantly because you have to calm them down and keep them from killing somebody. They will do anything to make you smile, and you know you will always have them by your side when things get rough.
I LOVE my best girlfriends, absolutely love them. But I don't know who I would be without my best guy friends. Without them, there would be so much less laughter, smiles, burps, and fraternity shirts missing from my life. We may want to fight each other most of the time, but that is how we show love towards each other. If you have guy best friends, do not let them go. They will be the first ones to tell it to you straight, and also the first ones to comfort you when you're sad. They are the big brothers you never knew you needed, and the ones that you can't imagine your life without.
